FC Barcelona is not in its status as it was a decade ago. The Catalan club was in a great financial state, and the team was very competitive. The team would normally challenge for the Champions League every year and was arguably the best team in the last decade, along with Real Madrid. Nowadays, the club is not par to those standards and the team is not the clear favorite to win the Champions League this season. While the team includes talented youth, it still doesn't seem enough to become competitive in Europe.

FC Barcelona has had to rely on young players from La Masia this season. Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, and more have played games for the club this season to replace injured players. While having talented young players is great, it still doesn't mean the team will be competitive immediately. FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta and Xavi have told the fans that the aim is to be competitive and win both La Liga and the Champions League. While the optimism is high, an FC Barcelona legend wants the club to be more honest about its situation.

Gerard Pique talked about Barca's financial struggles being an issue or the team being competitive. Pique said, "I think Barça fans want the truth. If we are in this reality, we have to say it. What we cannot do is sell a smokescreen saying that you're going to win the Champions League when you don't have the money to be competitive. I don't know the club's situation in detail, but I think people want to know the truth, to be told that there is no money, that they are going to bet on La Masia for 2-3 years."
