Egypt releases official statement on Salah and joins Liverpool temporarily
After Jurgen Klopp told the press that Salah was coming back to the club facilities, the Egypt FA releases a statement.
After Liverpool's 4-0 win against Bournemouth, Jurgen Klopp gave Liverpool fans some potentially good news. He announced that Mohamed Salah was returning to Liverpool to treat the injury he suffered with Egypt in the AFCON Cup. He also mentioned that if Egypt makes the AFCON final, the player would go back to Ivory Coast to play.
Klopp mentioned that Salah would come back to Liverpool for rehab because they wanted to see how bad the injury could be. Klopp says, “That’s the plan; if that’s already been decided 100%, I don’t know. But that’s the plan. However long he is out, I think everybody sees it makes sense that he does the rehab with us or our people."
The Liverpool manager mentions that he spoke with Salah after he got the injury and is making sure his player is not in danger of potentially risking a bigger injury. Klopp says, "I spoke to Mo [Salah] on the night it happened, but since then, he is in contact with our doctor, and the doctor tells me the news, and I think he will be back."
When asked if Salah would be able to rejoin the Egypt squad later should they reach the final, Klopp added: “I am not a medic, and I’m not a doctor, but I would say if Egypt qualifies for the final and he’s fit for the final then probably yes. Why not?"
Egypt's FA Statement suggests Salah will be back in their squad if he is fit before a potential semifinal
The Egyptian FA released an official statement regarding Mohamed Salah going back to Liverpool. They agree the player will get treatment with his club but expect Salah to come back if fit enough for a potential semifinal game in the AFCON Cup. The statement reads, “The Egyptian FA announces that Mohamed Salah will travel to England to receive treatment following the match between Egypt and Cape Verde, with the hope that he will join the Egyptian national team if it qualifies for the semi-finals.”
