Drama in the Crystal Palace squad after the 5-0 loss to Arsenal
Crystal Palace players go over to the angry Palace fan base at the end of the game.
Arsenal displayed an impressive display at the Emirates as they defeated Crystal Palace 5-0. Arsenal's goal scorer was Gabriel Magalhaes, an own goal by Palace keeper Dean Henderson, Trossard, and a brace by Gabriel Martinelli. Arsenal go home with three important points that keep them alive in the Premier League title race.
While Arsenal celebrate the victory, the other side of London is not so happy. Crystal Palace suffered their 10th defeat of the Premier League season, and they are three games winless. They were recently eliminated from the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Everton at home. The team is currently in 15th place with 21 points and is 5 points above the relegation zone.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson acknowledges the loss as the start of a relegation battle this season, and that worries many Crystal Palace fans. Hudgson says, "There's no doubt we have to keep looking over our shoulder and we are in a relegation battle, no question about that. I believe the team and club, and the group of players we have, are more than good enough to get us away from the relegation zone."
During the Arsenal v Palace game, the fans in the away end of the Emirates held up a sign for the players and the club. In response to the poor results, the sign read, "Wasted potential. On and off the pitch, weak decisions. Taking us backwards."
Crystal Palace fans believe that Joachim Andersen swore at them while coming over to clap at the away fans
Joachim Andersen and Eze came over to the away end of the Emirates to clap at the Palace players. A video circulating on X shows the Danish center back saying, "What do you want? f*** off, man” Eze made no remarks towards the Palace fans and even apologized for the performance against Arsenal. Another message the Palace fans held up for the players read, "No shared vision. No structured plan. Parish out, Yanks out."
Anderson went on Instagram to respond to the Palace fans. He wrote, "Of course, today wasn't good enough, but we are trying our best if anyone were wondering. We need to stick together and keep going. We need you more than ever."
