FC Barcelona has experienced a lot of bad news this season. Xavi Hernandez announced leaving the club at the end of the season. The club still can’t make any signings, and the team is not performing on the pitch. Barca are looking to bring positive momentum ahead of their next game in La Liga against Alaves.

Xavi spoke about his team being a group of great individuals on the pitch, but they need to improve to get results. Barca is 4th in La Liga with 47 points and is 10 points behind league leader Real Madrid. Barca and Xavi have expressed the difficulty of winning La Liga this season but are excited to try and win the Champions League.

In less than two weeks, FC Barcelona will travel to Naples, Italy, to play Napoli in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium. Xavi hopes to have his striker Robert Lewandowski up for the next few games and wants him focused.

Xavi said, “From Robert (Lewandowski), I can tell you that he is exemplary. He is always looking for improvement, he comes to talk to me many times. These are sensations of his body, and he knows it better than anyone. We have to help him. We are correcting it daily so that he can improve. I understand that, with age, he has less spark. But he has to play smarter. We are helping him, and he wants to let himself be helped."

Robert Lewandowski felt low last year despite having a good season with FC Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski had an amazing first season with FC Barcelona in the 2022/2023 campaign. He was the top goalscorer in La Liga with 23 goals and also had seven assists. Even though he had a great season, he didn't feel his best. Lewandowski says, " At some point in 2023, I felt weaker mentally and physically. Last year, I felt in some sort of current, and it took me a long time to get out of that state and feel normal."
