FC Barcelona is currently in a dilemma as Xavi Hernandez is still set to leave the club at the end of the season. When Xavi announced that he would leave the club in the summer, the Barcelona board did not expect to hear that news. Barcelona is now competing with other clubs like Liverpool and Bayern Munich for a new manager this summer. Barcelona has been linked to major managers like Xabi Alonso, Jurgen Klopp, Hansi Flick, and more. As the shortlist gets shorter, Barcelona sporting director Deco gives some bad news to the fans on searching for a replacement for Xavi.

Despite Xavi leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, FC Barcelona has been undefeated since he announced his decision. They have seven wins and three draws in the last ten games in all competitions, but convincing him to stay seems like an impossible task. Deco spoke with Qué T'hi Jugues and spoke about Xavi's soon departure from the club. Deco said, " If there is a coach with courage and who has never complained, it is Xavi. He is always positive; it is a luxury to work with him. I didn't want Xavi to leave at the end of the season. Xavi keeps telling us that his decision is irreversible. If something changes, he must tell us. If he tells us he wants to continue, we should talk to him."

When asked about potential replacements for Xavi, Deco says that the club has yet to speak to managers, but he does admire some that were linked with the club. Deco said, "Barcelona has not made any move with any coach. We haven't spoken to anyone, but we know who is available, and we are paying attention. Obviously, you can appreciate top managers like Guardiola, Klopp, and Arteta, but they’re not available. I really like Luis Enrique. He’s a reference, a top person, and a top coach. He’s able to manage important groups, he’s a really top coach.”
