After joining the club in 2017, Kylian Mbappé confirmed to PSG that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. In the summer of 2021, he signed a two-year contract with a possible year extension for the 2024/25 season. Since PSG was not able to extend it for an extra year, Mbappé has finally chosen to leave the club and go elsewhere.

Mbappé has been heavily rumored to go to Real Madrid this summer after years of him rejecting past offers from the Spanish giants. PSG manager Luis Enrique did not want to confirm Mbappé's decision and said, "I won't be drawn on Mbappe. I am the coach. When the parties speak, then I'll speak. We continue to work. Our message is the team is above and bigger than any individual."
