At Manchester City, everything is measured down to the last detail, and not everything is about multimillion-dollar signings or big sales. The facilities at the club's sports city are among the best in Europe and are home to one of the best talent factories in the country, which has improved its performance in recent years with the aim of nurturing the first team of young players. The 'Citizen' is one of the teams with the fewest home-grown first-team players on the payroll (2) and the club wants to change that.

Only Phil Foden and Cole Palmer have the 'privilege' of having worked their way up from the academy to become part of Guardiola's current squad. Pep has chosen his youth players very carefully to give them the opportunity to make their debuts, and in his time in Manchester he has been characterized by progressively managing the minutes for the youngsters. Foden started with little work, something that frustrated the fans, until the Englishman gained minutes over time and became a star.

There have also been numerous failures with players such as Jadon Sancho, Brahim Diaz, Tosin Adarabioyo and Eric Garcia, who came through the club's youth ranks and ended up succeeding away from Manchester.

Last season, Manchester City's U-23 team was proclaimed champion in the Premier League 2 Division One, the youth league played by the best youth teams of the Premier League and lower divisions. The 'Citizen' team beat West Ham, Arsenal and Liverpool in the table. James McAtee and Liam Delap were the two most decisive players, scoring 26 goals between them.

City's young promises

McAtee, 19, made his debut last season with the first team, where he made six appearances, and is one of the youth players who could leave on loan this summer. According to 'The Athletic', clubs like Leicester, Leeds, Brighton or Aston Villa have been interested in him. He recently renewed his contract with City until 2026. Guardiola wants to count on him but the player could opt for a departure in search of shooting.

In the case of Delap, the English striker already knows that the club does not contemplate the option of selling him after rejecting an offer from Southampton. He would have the approval of the coach to go out on loan next season, with a possible destination in the Championship.
