Now that Erik then Hag was officially presented as the new Manchester United coach, one of the things he’s prioritizing is the addition of a new striker to complement Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored almost half of the goals of the Red Devils in Premier League.

The 37-year-old Portuguese striker scored 24 goals in the 2021-22 season across all competition, as he was the only United player that scored double digits, as Edinson Cavani was injured half of the season and in 15 games, he only scored two goals.

Cavani left as a free agent once the season is over, leaving Ronaldo with all the responsibility in the offense, which is why Erik ten Hag is already in conversations with a few options to replace the Uruguayan international.

Their top option will cost them $108 million

Although The Red Devils have been linked to Harry Kane and Darwin Núñez, they’ve recently become the favorite to sign Serie A side Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who was an essential player for the Azzurri and Luciano Spalletti.

Osimhen joined Napoli back in 2020 out of Ligue 1 side OSC Lille for a transfer fee worth $80.1 million. Since then, the Nigerian international has played a total of 62 games with the Azzurri. In the two seasons that he’s been at Napoli, he’s scored 28 goals and 9 assistances.

According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, United is pursuing the addition of the 23-year-old striker, although Aurelio di Laurentiis, Napoli’s owner, won’t accept an offer for him that is less than $108 million to start the negotiations.
