Lionel Messi continues to shine in the United States with Inter Miami. In less than a month since his debut, the Argentine has already lifted a Leagues Cup trophy and has led the team to the US Open Cup Final. With this said, (The Herons) will be playing in their second final in their history, guided by Messi.
His efforts have paid off. During his short time in Miami, Messi has scored 10 goals in 8 matches, a record that was expected considering his quality as a footballer. The former Barcelona player has expressed his joy in joining the American league. According to his own words, playing in Miami has brought back his happiness.
However, at 36 years of age, Messi doesn't have the same physical condition as before. For this reason, Gerardo Martino has decided to leave him on the bench for the start of the match against the New York Red Bulls. This is to avoid further physical strain and to have him available for the upcoming games.
The Argentine will miss the match against Sporting Kansas City on September 9th because he will be traveling to Argentina for the International FIFA break in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
