The German coach cleared any kind of controversy or disagreement and settled the matter by explaining that the Senegalese striker simply wanted to leave the team. "Sometimes things go your way and sometimes you have to react to a situation like when Sadio told us he wanted to leave. We knew then that we had to replace him, he is a very good player. Fortunately, we were able to do so in the winter by bringing in Luis Díaz and now we have brought in Darwin Núñez," he said, adding that the two new reinforcements to his attacking line are of great value.

However, the German admitted that he will miss the African attacker in certain circumstances: "We know how good Sadio Mané is, we will realize how good he was for us in certain moments, because there will be 'Sadio moments' when no one else can do it like him."

Klopp wants renovation in the squad

Klopp is keen to renew the project year after year and to bring a breath of fresh air into the project: "We can't do the same thing year after year, it's just not possible. We have a base, we have to build on this base and be more unpredictable for other teams. And that is possible with the addition of other players..."

The coach shared his vision for improving the team: "How can you improve a world-class football team? By training, obviously, we believe in that a lot, but also by bringing in new players. We need fresh blood, a new dynamic, new desire to create a team full of illusion and determination for what's coming."
