Celta de Vigo was one of the possible destinations for Diego Lainez. UD Almeria was another La Liga team bidding for the Mexican's services. However, it seems that Diego Lainez will not play in Spain and will go on loan to Sporting Braga in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.

For several weeks, the young Mexican player has known the decision of the coaching staff and the sporting direction of Real Betis. Diego Lainez must prove his worth outside of Real Betis. Therefore, in recent days, numerous clubs have been battling for the services of the young winger for next season.

Finally, it seems that Sporting de Braga have won the race. According to Diario Récord de Portugal, Diego Lainez will join the Portuguese club on loan and the Portuguese side will have an option to buy for 7 million euros, which can be exercised at the end of next season.

For many, this figure is somewhat low, especially considering that Diego Lainez is a bet on the future and that Real Betis invested more on the Mexican, at the time, the Spanish club paid Club America a figure close to 15 million euros.

Spanish teams showed interest in Lainez

Both Almeria and Celta de Vigo were after the young Mexican player, being the Galician club the one that seemed to have more options to get the services of Diego Lainez. In the end, the Real Betis player will not compete in La Liga and will play in in Portugal, where he will search for more prominence in face of the World Cup.
