The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, has dismissed definitively the hypothetical arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. At the presentation of Nahuel Molina, Cerezo confirmed that the club's squad is closed after the recent signing of the Argentine winger from Udinese.

Thus, all the rumors that had linked the Portuguese star with his possible arrival at the Wanda Metropolitano over the past few weeks have gone up in smoke. Cristiano has one year left on his contract with Manchester United and the English club are counting on him.

Ronaldo, however, wishes to play in the Champions League more than anything, he is even willing to cut his wages and possibly play in a European league of lower caliber. The 'Red Devils' will play in the Europa League next season, and the Portuguese striker is desperately looking for a destination where he can compete in the top continental competition.

Koke also closed the door on Cristiano Ronaldo. At the end of a friendly match, the midfielder spoke to Gol and, among other matters, was asked about Atlético's possible interest in Cristiano Ronaldo. "No," he answered flatly when asked if the dressing room has talked about the Portuguese. And on whether they would like to have him as a teammate, he was even clearer.

"We haven't talked about it, my teammates are great players. We have Portugal's striker, Argentina's striker, Brazil's striker, Spain's striker and France's striker. We have players who can do very well here," he said.

Ronaldo is running out of options

The former Real Madrid player will have to look for a destination far from the Spanish capital, since Real Madrid is not willing to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese is clear that he wants to leave Manchester United, although it remains to be seen if he finally manages to join a club that plays in the Champions League.
