Barcelona would offer Memphis Depay to lower the price of a highly-rated defender

As reported by journalist Gerard Romero, FC Barcelona has sent reports of Memphis Depay to Sevilla with the intention of using him as a bargaining chip to lower the price of Jules Koundé and close the transfer of the French center-back in this summer transfer window.

Xavi Hernandez has asked Joan Laporta to sign Jules Koundé to strengthen the defense for next season. The young Spanish coach wants to form a partnership with the Frenchman and Ronald Araújo, both for the short and long term. And the Blaugrana have been trying to sign him for a couple of months now.

Sevilla are asking for more than 60 million euros for the Frenchman, considering that he has asked to leave the club to play in a more important team with aspirations to win important titles. The player ruled out a move to Chelsea in recent weeks because he wants to play for FC Barcelona, who are doing everything possible to close his incorporation.

On the other hand, Memphis Depay is one of the club's discards for next season. The Dutchman would not fit in Xavi's plans if the incorporations of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha are confirmed in the coming weeks, so they would be looking to sell him to make bank (they have received an offer of 23 million euros from the Premier League), but the option to offer him in the operation of Koundé has appeared with the intention of lowering the price of the Frenchman.

Sevilla are looking for a center forward, so they would not rule out the option.
