Leonardo Campana was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on July 24, 2000. He currently plays as a forward for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

He began his career in 2016 in the youth divisions of Barcelona Sporting Club of Ecuador, where he had an outstanding career that year scoring 15 goals in 16 games. 

By 2018 Campana had a great season in Barcelona's U-18 team becoming their top scorer with 20 goals in 19 games, which made Barcelona's first-team coach Guillermo Almada promote him to the main squad.

On March 3, 2019, he made his professional debut with the Barcelona jersey, in a match against Independiente del Valle, at the Estadio General Rumiñahui, the match ended 3-0 in favor of the Rayados. He scored his first goal with Barcelona on April 21 against Delfín S. C.

Career in Europe

At just 19 years old, he signed for Wolves in the English Premier League in 2020, but in the last two years, he has played first with FC Famalicao in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and then with Grasshopper Club Zurich in the Swiss Super League.

Arrival to MLS

The tricolor striker arrives at Inter Miami on loan with an option to buy from Wolverhampton Wanderers of the English Premier League and is teaming up with Argentine Gonzalo Higuaín upfront for Inter Miami, which is in the midst of a renewal process.

Leonardo Campana wants to be taken into account again by Gustavo Alfaro for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The tricolor 9, therefore, decided to leave Europe, to have more playing minutes.

The Miami striker played the U-20 World Cup with the Ecuadorian national soccer team and was able to obtain a third place with the 'tricolor' jersey. In addition, Leo had very good participation in the Copa America 2021. Now Campana will try to earn more minutes in Major League Soccer to be taken into account for the World Cup.
