According to Manuel Veth of Transfermarkt, both clubs will go all out to try to snatch a Belgian national team gem, who has seduced both institutions. 

Which player will LA Galaxy and LAFC fight for?

It is Axel Witsel, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Belgium international, which would give continuity to the league's season of star signings. 

It should be recalled that in the previous winter transfer window, Xerdán Shaqiri arrived at Chicago Fire and Lorenzo Insigne's arrival at Toronto FC was confirmed, which will be effective next June.

According to the aforementioned reporter, Witsel could be the next big star to land in Major League Soccer, thus surpassing its closest competitor, La Liga MX, which has not been able to attract a top-level star to its ranks for some time.

According to the information handled by Transfermarkt's journalist, it was the sporting director of St. Louis City SC, Lutz Pfannenstiel who externalized this information and he did so during Friday's Bundesliga match between VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund, which ended with a score of 2-0.

"A lot of rumors about him. Major League Soccer is one of the destinations people are talking about, it's interesting to see what he decides," Pfannenstiel told ESPN's microphones. 

And although at the beginning the St. Louis manager made the fans of this club excited, according to the Transfermarkt portal, the club is not looking for players at the moment, so this rumor is not true.

But, according to the same portal, a source with knowledge of the situation claims that LA Galaxy and LAFC are the teams that would go for the player, although so far there has been no confirmation of the news. 

But if confirmed, the Belgian midfielder would be the second Borussia Dortmund player to arrive in MLS for the upcoming summer transfer window, as Roman Bürki, the club's backup goalkeeper will arrive at MLS Next Pro's St. Louis City SC 2 in July.

So far, Axel Witsel has 141 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists.

The player arrived at the club in the 2018-2019 season and has had very good performances for the club, so it would not be strange if two of the most powerful clubs in MLS want him.
