How and why did the rivalry between Ryan Hollingshead and Carlos Vela explode?

The rivalry between these two players exploded yesterday afternoon, when Hollingshead scored a brace, thus telling Vela that he has competition at the club

Although they are not competing for the same position, Hollinsghead's is noteworthy because he has only recently arrived at the club, while Vela has been with Los Angeles Football Club since 2019.

With a brace, Ryan Hollingshead declares war on Carlos Vela

Yesterday afternoon was a good one for LAFC, but more importantly, it was a good one for Carlos Vela and Ryan Hollingshead, as with a goal from the former and a brace from the latter, the Los Angeles club went to the top of the Western Conference

Hollingshead's brace also helped his club mount a comeback, as LAFC began the game trailing the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0

Tristan Blackmon's goal came very early in the match and the Los Angeles club's supporters, as his strike fell in the 12th minute of the match, leaving Hollingshead's club on the ropes until the 27th minute.

In that minute, a corner kick was taken by Carlos Vela, who from a distance could see how his teammates were ready to shoot at the goal, especially the former FC Dallas former player.

Hollingshead did not miss the opportunity and looked for Carlos Vela's pass, to score the 1-1 equalizer to goalkeeper Thomas Hasal, who jumped to try to prevent the goal, but did not succeed.

Hollingshead's second goal would not come until the 70th minute, when a series of bounces in the Whitecaps' box left a ball alive, which fell into the legs of Hollingshead.

The midfielder wasted no time in firing a powerful right-footed shot into the back of the net to make it 3-1. With his goals, LAFC leads the competition in the Western Conference.

And with his brace, he told MLS, his club, and Carlos Vela that he is ready to take on the role of the club's goalscorer if needed.

Carlos Vela has already beaten Ryan Hollingshead at something

Although this goal-scoring rivalry is just getting started, there is one area in which the Mexican has the LAFC midfielder beat, at least so far.

And that something is the number of followers on Instagram, since while Ryan Hollingshead has 3, 976 followers, while Carlos Vela has more than 1.5 million followers.

But after his great display in the MLS Week 4 match, the number of followers on his Instagram account will likely increase.
