This day, U.S. media reported that Héctor Herrera accepted an offer to join Houston Dynamo. Why did he choose MLS over Liga MX?

This question has arisen in different social networks and the Mexican press in general since the player is international with the Mexican national soccer team, so the doubt has not ceased to sound in all Mexican media.

Why did Héctor Herrera choose MLS over Liga MX?

In the absence of a confirmation from the club or the player, the most likely explanation is the payment that "HH" would receive in Major League Soccer since it has been revealed that Herrera accepted a three-year contract until 2025 and would be paid $6.5 million per season.

This revelation of the amount that the Mexican player would receive for playing for the Houston Dynamo would be the most solid explanation as to why the 31-year-old Mexican midfielder would have accepted a contract to play in the United States.

Although it had been rumored that Tigres had every intention of getting Héctor Herrera last December, this version could not be confirmed, but there is no doubt that only this club would have been able to pay the salary of "HH".

How did Houston Dynamo get Héctor Herrera from Atlético de Madrid?

According to press reports, it was the team's general manager, Pat Onstad, who led the operation to rescue Herrera from the club where his relationship with coach Diego Pablo Simeone had become quite complicated.

According to media outlets such as ESPN, the Dynamo's general manager traveled to Spain along with other executives to try to close the signing of the Mexican, who was already a starter in "Cholo" Simeone's lineup.

This is not the first great success in terms of signings by Onstad, as last year he managed to sign Libertad's Paraguayan striker, Sebastián Ferreira.

Both operations have been made possible in large part thanks to the team's new owner, Ted Segal, who has opened his checkbook on both occasions to secure such reinforcements.

While Herrera's arrival to MLS is confirmed, what is known is that the club needs a better performance from the midfield up, since, in its MLS 2022 debut, the team tied 0-0 with Real Salt Lake, so the arrival of "HH" would give a boost to the team's forward line.

In addition, the Mexican's arrival to the Texan club would give the team greater roots in the community, since the state has a large number of Mexicans and children of Mexicans who follow him in the Mexican national soccer team.
