Three Italian clubs are after Johan Vásquez, but Gerardo Martino prefers to keep him benched

When Johan Vásquez was called by Gerardo “Tata” Martino for the last FIFA match window, he wasn’t expecting to travel all the way from Italy to Mexico just to be benched two games and become a healthy scratch in the other one.

Reports suggest that he returned to Italy angry at Martino, and he has the right to be mad, as the Argentinian coach made him waste time that he could have invested in preparing for the upcoming matches that Genoa CFC will face, given the importance that they’ll had, as the Rossoblu currently are on the relegation zone.

Luckily for Johan Vásquez, his efforts and dedication haven’t gone unnoticed by everyone, as his performances with Genoa have placed him as one of the best defenders available in Europe, and given the probable relegation of his current club, at least three Italian clubs are planning on signing him for the next season.

 

Which clubs are interested in the Mexican defender?

According to reports, Vásquez took by surprise Serie A, as the 23-year-old center back has impressed everyone in Italian top flight, including clubs like Lazio, Sassuolo, Atalanta and even Inter Milan, who are waiting until the end of the current season to try to acquire the young Mexican defender.
