Orbelín Pineda is one of Mexico’s best strikers, so much he already is living his dream of playing in a European league, as he signed with La Liga side Celta de Vigo a 5-and-a-half-year contract that ties him to the Vigo team until the end of the 2026-27 season.

He’s been part of Los Célticos for just two weeks and he already appeared in the bench on one game and is set to be called again for this weekend’s game. Even reports from the Spanish sports media say that his teammates and coaching staff are impressed with his performance during trainings.

But Eduardo Coudet might keep him benched a little longer, as Pineda is still adapting to La Liga soccer and especially to the new time zone, something that might diminish his shape, at least until he gets used to his new geographical position, which could prevent him from starting a game soon.

Orbelín Pineda’s numbers with El Tri

Orbelín Pineda debuted with Mexico National Team in 2016, when he was 20 years old. So far, he’s played in 43 games for El Tri, in which he’s been able to score a total of 6 goals and assisting the same number of times. Pineda’s market value is set at $10.2 million after he joined Celta de Vigo.
