Mexico National Team arrived at Estadio Azteca with the clear objective of not repeating the result of the past three games against USMNT, especially the Dos a Cero in the victory that the Stars and Stripes got in Cincinnati.

For being able to achieve their goal, Gerardo “Tata” Martino planned a game where they could take over the control of the ball, and with it set their own pace instead of waiting for USMNT to take the initiative, something that only took them the first few minutes of the game.

The Aztec squad was owner of the ball most of the game, although they didn’t have many clear plays to score during the first half, something that the Americans did, as they showed that they didn’t need the possession to create danger.

Christian Pulisic had one of the most dangerous plays of the game, when he had a shoot right inside the goal box, but his shot didn’t have neither aim nor strength, which made it easy for Guillermo Ochoa to save, as the ball hit right in his body.

Pulisic couldn’t shine given the pressure from the stands

All the Mexican followers that attended the game on Thursday night were chanting “Olé, olé, olé, Memo, Memo” every time that Ochoa made a save, especially when the shoot came from the Chelsea striker.

The atmosphere in the stadium, added to the outstanding performance that Guillermo Ochoa had, made the game between El Tri and the Stars and Stripes felt like a revenge for Ochoa given that Pulisic mocked him after scoring against him in the last game they faced each other.
