One of the absences that surprises more is the one of Marcelo Flores, who currently plays for Arsenal U-23 squad and keeps impressing everyone with his skills and accuracy, something that could come in hand for a El Tri that has been lacking goals.

Why Martino prefers calling Lainez instead of Marcelo?

Gerardo Martino is already thinking ahead, as he wants to stay with El Tri for the 2026 World Cup, hence why he prefers calling players he already knows and that they know how his system works, as Lainez, instead of trying new young players who will have to adapt to his system, something that will take time and that’s the last thing El Tri has.
