The real reason behind Gullit Peña’s exclusion from his Guatemalan team

Carlos “Gullit” Peña recently got cut off from Antigua GFC from the Guatemalan league, just a week before the tournament started. Although his performance on the pitch helped the team reach the semifinals, that wasn’t enough for the club.

During his stint in Liga MX, he was fired from most of his teams by problems outside of the pitch, as he obviously is a talented player. He not only had scandals in Mexico, as he also refused to report with GKS Tychy, from the Polish second division. And in Guatemala things might have been similar.

The difference with his appearances outside the pitch in Guatemala and the ones in Mexico or in Poland, resides that he used his free time to help people in need, as he was usually seen buying food for people in La Antigua, maybe trying to clear his name.

What could happen with Peña’s career?

After unexpectedly becoming a free agent, Carlos Peña has been linked to a couple of Liga MX teams, Chivas and Santols Laguna, the latter being the closest team to sign him, as his coach, Pedro Caixinha, already coached Peña during his stint in Scottish side Rangers FC.
