Although Mexico National Team has yet to play the last World Cup Qualifiers match window to know if they’ll play in Qatar at the end of the year, Mexican Football Federation is already negotiating friendly matches in preparation for the World Cup.

The idea of Gerardo Martino and FMF is to face some of the best National Teams to have actual challenges, not like the games the dispute in CONCACAF -although they lost against Canada MNT and couldn’t win when Costa Rica visited Estadio Azteca-.

A game against Argentina National Team is one of the planned matches El Tri has as preparation, but it could also mean the end of Gerardo Martino’s stint in the Aztecs dugout, given that his system and the roster are not prepared to face players like Lionel Messi.

Who could replace Martino in such short notice?

The game against Argentina National Team will be played in August, according to reports, which means that the coach that arrives will only have 3 months to get ready for the World Cup. Miguel Herrera is currently the favorite coach to replace Martino.
