Although Gerardo “Tata” Martino managed to maintain his position as coach of Mexico National Team after achieving the goal that FMF imposed him -earning at least 7 out of 9 available points in the past FIFA match window-, his decisions are still questioned by almost everyone.

It’s hard to understand how or why Martino keeps calling the same players repeatedly, although it’s clear they don’t have the level needed to play for El Tri, whether they’ve aged, are out of shape because they don’t play on their clubs or they feel comfortable knowing that no one will steal their place.

That’s why Christian Martinoli finally decided to speak up against the system Martino insists on using with El Tri, as he doesn’t move from the 4-3-3 formation that evidently doesn’t work against CONCACAF teams, as was shown on the games against Panama, Costa Rica and Jamaica.

What else does Martino insist on doing?

Martinoli continued his critique towards the Argentinian coach saying that he doesn’t have a will strong enough to stop calling the players that believe to be sacred cows in El Tri, although they clearly are just closing the doors to better players, like Guillermo Ochoa or Héctor Herrera.
