The Real Betis vs Sevilla game was suspended due to aggression against a player from outside the field. With this, Jesus 'Tecatito' Corona's opportunity to make his debut in the Copa del Rey was ruined

Everything went naturally in the match and the fans enjoyed a good duel between the two teams that make up the Derbi Sevillano.

However, the situation changed drastically in the 39th minute when a Sevilla player was hit by a projectile that came from the stands of the Benito Villamarín

Real Betis' home stadium and its staff failed to prevent such incidents from occurring, resulting in the game having to be suspended for good.

The worst thing was that the action occurred just when the visiting team had already achieved a draw in the match, which ended with a 1-1 score.

Which Sevilla player was the one who suffered the aggression?

The player in question is Joan Jordán, who was hit by a plastic bar, which left him lying on the grass, a situation that forced the game to be stopped just when Betis had managed to tie the match

With a goal by Nabil Fekir, Betis had equalized the score that had been opened by the Argentine Alejandro "Papu" Gomez.

Following the impact and Jordán's fall, the game was stopped for 8 minutes so that the medical staff on the field could attend to the player, who was left somewhat dazed by the impact.

The referee of the match, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea, took the object thrown from the South goal of the Villamarín and handed it to the on-field delegate.

For this reason, it was decided that the match would be stopped with 6 minutes left in the first half.

The aggression ruined Jesus 'Tecatito' Corona's chance to make his debut in the Copa del Rey

The player was not only called up for the match but was also on the substitutes' bench, echoing the statements made yesterday by Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla's coach.

The coach had said that they hoped to count on Corona for this match and although it was not a certainty that the Mexican would make his debut in this duel, the suspension of the match canceled that possibility.

When the line-ups were announced, Corona's nickname "Tecatito" was among the names of the substitutes, so his debut was a possibility

However, the act of violence that occurred in the stadium deprived the player of this possibility.

So far it is not known what will happen with this suspended duel, since the other games of the day were played normally.

What was a fact is that the Royal Spanish Football Federation condemned the act of violence and called on all its fans to follow the rules and respect the players on the field.

Until before the duel was suspended, Betis had dominated the match against a Sevilla side severely depleted by injuries

However, Julen Lopetegui's men took the lead in their first and only approach with a shot by "Papu" Gomez from outside the area.

Just five minutes later, Fekir, who had been the best of the green-and-white team, equalized with a beautiful Olympic goal that surprised the neophyte Alfonso Pastor, who started the game after Dimitrovic tested positive for coronavirus.
