The pressure continues for the coach of the Mexican National Team going to Qatar 2022, and the new pressure comes from Marcelo Flores who told Tata Martino: "I want to go to the World Cup".

While the young Arsenal U23 midfielder didn't say it personally to Martino, he did use the media again to put pressure on the Mexico coach.

How was Marcelo Flores' statement to Tata Martino in which he told him that he wants to go to the World Cup?

In an interview for football.london media, the player commented:

"I've been saying for some time that I want to make my professional debut before I turn 19, whether it's at Arsenal or elsewhere on loan or permanent sale. I wanted to go to the World Cup before I was 19, but I have my birthday in October, so it will be a month later, but I want to be in a national team going to the World Cup and have my debut with Arsenal before that," Flores told the English media.

So far Marcelo Flores, nicknamed by his Mexican fans as "El Chelo", has played two friendly matches with the Mexican National Soccer Team

The first one was in December, when El Tri faced Chile, in a match that ended with a 2-2 score. And the second match was two weeks ago when the Mexican team played against Guatemala.

However, due to his triple nationality, the player can still choose whether he will play for Canada, Mexico or England, a country of which he already has citizenship, having lived there for some years.

Marcelo Flores' pressure does not please Tata Martino

However, it is very likely that Martino's response to this new statement by Flores will be one of rejection, as it happened on the previous occasion when the Arsenal U-23 player said he would like to play for the country that takes him to the World Cup.

On that occasion, Martino responded:

"That's not good, neither is the speculation that he will play for the National Team that will take him to the World Cup. First he must consolidate himself, be clear about which national team he is going to play for and not speculate that he would play for a national team that will take him to the World Cup. It is difficult to say what the possibilities are for him, what does not seem logical to me is that his decision is subject to which national team guarantees him a World Cup".

How will the strategist respond to this new pressure that Marcelo Flores is putting on him?
