Diego “Cholo” Simeone arrived in Atlético Madrid back in 2011 where he immediately became one of the most successful coaches in La Liga, hence the reason he still is on Atlético’s bench after 10 years. And although they won La Liga last season, his current results are far from good.

People have started to question his continuity as coach of Los Colchoneros, and rumors suggest that Atlético's management already has his replacement in case he’s destitute. But one of the main reasons he hasn’t had the same success as last season is his decision of benching Héctor Herrera.

Now, on a desperate move to save his place with Atleti, Simeone is trying to shake things up for the upcoming round of 16 of Copa del Rey, where he already said he’ll place Herrera in his starting XI and will be benching Uruguayan international Luis Suárez.

How his stint with Atlético has affected Héctor Herrera?

When he arrived in Madrid to join Atlético as a free agent after ending his contract with FC Porto, Herrera’s market value was set at $25 million. But now, after seeing his playing time diminished, he’s seen it fall to his current value, $5.6 million.
