Prior to the start of the season, José Juan Macías pushed Chivas to let him try his luck and play in Europe, as he thought he had enough level to leave Liga MX. His chance arrived from Getafe FC, a team that is fighting to avoid relegation in La Liga, but his arrive in Spain was just to warm the bench.

On a surprising turn of events, Getafe FC rescinded José Juan Macías’ contract, although he still had six more moths of his loan. Now, the 22-year-old striker’s future is unsure, as he should report back with Chivas, but he’s set to stay away from Liga MX, at least for the remainder of the season.

According to reports, Sporting Kansas City has raised the hand to add the Mexican striker to their squad for the 2022 MLS Season, given that they won’t have Alan Pulido as he’ll be out for a year as a result of a knee surgery, but ultimately Macías will have the last decision.

Does he have other options outside the MLS?

The safest bet for Macías would be returning to Chivas, given that he needs playing time in order to earn a chance to play in Qatar with El Tri and El Rebaño needs a striker to partner with Alexis Vega. But rumors have also linked him to CSKA Moscow and an undisclosed club in Italy.
