After Mexico National Team roster was published yesterday, people couldn’t believe that Gerardo Martino called four goalkeepers and Carlos Acevedo wasn’t one of them, especially after repeatedly asking for a renovation in the position.

Gerardo Martino called Guillermo Ochoa, from Club América; Rodolfo Cota, from Club León; Jonathan Orozco, from Club Tijuana, and Alfredo Talavera, from Pumas UNAM as El Tri goalkeepers for the matches against Jamaica, Costa Rica and Panamá in the upcoming FIFA window match.

But amongst the absences that El Tri will have, the one of Carlos Acevedo stands out the most, as he currently is one of the best goalkeepers in Liga MX, and Martino hasn’t considered him outside of the friendly match against Chile played last December.

Mexican legend Jorge Campos exposed the reason why Martino keeps calling Ochoa, even though he’s on his last years as a professional. In his opinion, he thinks Ochoa helps him control Mexican camp from within, as he is one of the most respected players on the roster, which is why he’s a regular for the Argentinian coach.
