Martino talks too much and could ruin Femexfut's business in the United States

One of the things that Martino modified was the defensive formation, as he’s usually comfortable with a 4-man line at defense, but against the powerful attack that La Celeste has, he knew that it was necessary to minimize the mistakes if they wanted to have a chance to win the game.

But even if the Argentine coach decided to start a 5-man line instead, what was more surprising was the absence of Johan Vásquez on the lineup, as he didn’t even make it into the 15 men that El Tri had on the bench after been one of the best players that El Tri had in the last CONCACAF Qualifiers matches. He has also become one of the most reliable defenders in Italian soccer, which is why Lazio and Atalanta are after his addition once the summer transfer window starts.

Why didn’t he was considered by Martino to start?

Instead of the 23-year-old center-back, “Tata” Martino decided to start Tigres’s defender Jesús Angulo, who has earned his call-up in recent months thanks to the outstanding participation he had with Atlas FC last season, and then with Los Felinos, where he was one of the most consistent players on the squad.

According to reports from sports journalist David Medrano, Gerardo Martino had considered Johan Vásquez to be a starter after he didn’t play on the last game against Nigeria and repeat along César Montes on the backfield.

But during the warmups prior to the game, Vásquez presented a discomfort on the ankle, which is why the medical staff of El Tri decided to keep him out of activity in order to prevent an injury that could affect his participation in Qatar.
