Jesús Corona departure from Porto to join Sevilla is so close. The signing, carried out with the utmost discretion, is in its last stage, pending only to close the last details with Porto later today. According to several sources, it will take place for a minimal transfer fee, as the Mexican player finishes his contract with the Portuguese club next June.

Porto's midweek game will delay negotiations

The agreement between Sevilla and the player is total and he would sign for the remainder of the season and three more seasons, although everything is subject to the agreement with the Portuguese club, which today plays a Portuguese Cup tie against Vizela.

According to the same sources of the operation, the fact that Porto is playing this Wednesday has delayed the agreement. The player's desire is to land in Seville on Thursday to get under the orders of his new coach with the utmost urgency.

Tonight Corona's agent, Matias Bunge will be traveling to Portugal to finalize the details of his possible arrival to Sevilla.

Sevilla coach already knows Jesus Corona

El Tecatito was one of the requests of Julen Lopetegui since he arrived at the Sevilla bench. His high price ruled him out in the last transfer windows but the sports management led by Monchi has been very close to the Mexican player and has decided to enter the scene now, taking advantage of the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season.

Jesús Corona, 29, joined Porto in June 2015 from Dutch club Twente. The former Rayados de Monterrey player has appeared in 17 games this season for Sergio Conciençao's team, with whom he has not played an excessive role. With the Portuguese team, he has won two leagues, two Super Cups and a Portuguese Cup, winning the "Footballer of the Year" award in the 2019/2020 season.

With the strategic move of Sevilla's sports management, Lopetegui is assured to have a player who was already under his orders when the Basque boss coached Porto. The Mexican's versatility and experience, as well as his speed, are highly valued at the Sevillian club.

Corona was close to leave Porto in 2018

AC Milan was once the team that sounded the strongest to sign the Mexico World Cup player in Russia 2018, and even in this transfer market he was close to Lyon of France, however, French media assured that everything fell because of his high pretensions.
