Mexico National Team still have one more game to play in the CONCACAF Qualifiers before officially ensuring direct passage to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, although only a catastrophe would leave them out of the 29 classified teams.

The Aztec squad will be placed in the Pot 2 of the Group Stage Draw alongside Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Uruguay and the United States, who is the other team that will ensure their ticket on Wednesday night.

While USMNT visits Costa Rica, El Tri will receive El Salvador in Estadio Azteca, looking to earn at least one point, although if they want to maintain Gerardo “Tata” Martino as their coach, they will have to play one of the best games of their life.

Both FMF and Liga MX owners are worried about the lack of goals El Tri have had in the Qualifiers, which is why they will vote if he continues or he’s replaced by Miguel Herrera, who already has the experience of arriving for the last part of the cycle.

The players that Herrera will have in El Tri

If Miguel Herrera replaces Gerardo Martino, he already knows what he would do to change things in El Tri, something he already did in Tigres, his current team, as he made Los Felinos one of the most offensive teams in Liga MX.

But Herrera also knows that there’s little time to make those changes, especially since El Tri won’t play the Qualifiers for the next World Cup, as they are one of the three hosts, which is why if he’s going to make changes, he must do them now.

That’s why he will call Marcelo Flores, the Arsenal U-23’s gem, since his youth added to the talent that he has to place himself right in front of the goal is something that El Tri currently lacks. He will also confirm the call-up of Carlos Acevedo, although it will only be as the second goalkeeper given that Ochoa is a leader on the pitch that can help the other players understand his system.

Juan Pablo Vigón, the third addition to El Tri

Miguel Herrera knows that the Mexican national team needs a change in the midfield, as Héctor Herrera hasn’t helped El Tri for a while. That’s why he will give Juan Pablo Vigón his first call to El Tri, especially since he has become one of the essential players on his lineup with Tigres.
