Mexico National Team hasn't found a striker that could complement what Raúl Jiménez usually does when he's on the pitch, as neither Rogelio Funes Mori nor Henry Martín have showed why Gerardo “Tata” Martino keeps considering them to be part of El Tri.

A different number of names have been linked to El Tri, from Santiago Giménez to Julio Furch, to fill the position behind Jiménez, but Martino hasn't considered them just yet, although it's clear that El Tri has a problem scoring goals in the current CONCACAF Qualifiers.

People are still questioning Javier "Chicharito" Hernández's absence in Gerardo Martino's roster, especially after he scored 17 goals last season with LA Galaxy, the only player in the team that scored double digits.

And for the 2022 MLS Season Hernández gave the Galaxy their first victory over current MLS champions New York City FC, as he scored the lone goal at the end of the game in the opening match, after Raheem Edwards assisted him, and he dribbled in the box before crossing his shoot.

It’s clear that Martino doesn’t want “Chicharito” in his roster, even if he’s one of Mexico’s best active strikers. But if Hernández’s veto keeps prolonging, his absence could open the door to a young striker that’s proving himself in Italy.

Who is the striker that could take Hernández place?

Although both of his parents are Dutch, Teun Sebastián Ángel Wilke Braams was born in Querétaro in 2002, which is why he can play for both the Netherlands and Mexico, although he’s said in the past that he wants to wear El Tri colors.

He plays in Italian side SPAL 2013, team which he joined for the current season after spending the past three years in Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen academy teams. He started his career with the academy team of Queretaro, where he played until he moved to Europe, in 2018.

Can he play for Mexico National Team?

The 19-year-old forward can play for either Mexico National Team or the Netherlands, although he’s said that wants to wear El Tri colors and has been part of the U-18 and U-20 squads, although Martino hasn’t showed any signs of taking him in consideration for the current cycle.
