A lot has been said in recent weeks about Hirving “Chucky” Lozano’s future, as the Mexican right-winger could be living his last games with Napoli, team he joined in 2019 after two outstanding seasons playing in Eredivisie, with PSV Eindhoven.

“Chucky” joined Napoli at the request of Carlo Ancelotti for the 2019-20 season, where he was a regular in the Azzurri lineup until Ancelotti was sacked and replaced by Genaro Gattuso. With Gatutuso on the dugout, Lozano had a hard time finding regularity.

Hirving consolidated as a revulsive for the Azzurri, as his speed is something that Gattuso used to change the course of the game and by the end of the 2020-21 season, he was in the starting XI again and played his best matches in Napoli under Gattuso’s wing.

Napoli decided to part ways with Genaro Gattuso and his place was taken by Luciano Spalletti, who has the Azzurri on the battle to win their first Scudetto since the 1989-90 season and has given Lozano a different role than the one he had previously, which explains why he hasn’t fully adapted yet.

He can leave Napoli at the end of the season

Lozano is under contract with the Azzurri until 2024, and even if he’s said that is comfortable in Italy, he wouldn’t refuse to leave if a good offer from a better team arrives, something that Aurelio De Laurentiis has taken in consideration.

According to reports from Italian outlets, Napoli is considering selling “Chucky” over the summer, as they believe that his position could be taken by the 21-year-old winger Jvicha Kvaratskhelia, from Russian side FC Rubin Kazan.

Lozano has been linked to a few La Liga teams, including Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid, but it seems like the Colchoneros are the ones that are bidding the stronger to have him in Wanda Metropolitano for the 2022-23 season.

How much Atlético will have to pay for him?

When the 26-year-old right-winger joined Napoli, the Azzurri paid $40 million for his permanent move, a similar sum that Napoli is asking now for his transfer, as they would expect an offer from $40 million to $44 million to let him go.
