Nicolás Larcamón helped Mexico National Team to have the replacement of one of their sacred cows

Gerardo “Tata” Martino revealed the list of players that will be part of the last three games that El Tri will have before starting their preparation to Qatar 2022, although it’s yet to be seen if they arrive to the World Cup in second or third place.

The game against USMNT will decide the future of both squads, something that Gerardo Martino is aware of and why he decided to leave out of the call some players that haven’t been good for El Tri in recent games, especially Luis “Chaka” Rodríguez.

Although he finally realized that there needs to be a generational change in order to compete against the current soccer speed, he showed signs of slowly starting a much-needed generational change, although he forgot to replace some other players that haven’t help the Aztec squad, like Héctor Moreno.

Who is going to be his replacement?

Martino finally called one of the best Liga MX defenders, Israel Reyes, who will replace Julio César “Cata” Domínguez in El Tri’s roster, given that the central defender has had outstanding and constant performances with Club Puebla.

Given that the 21-year-old center back plays the same position than Moreno, if he manages to impress Gerardo Martino and his coaching staff, something that is most probable to happen, he’ll be the player that takes Moreno’s place in El Tri.

Moreno knows that his time as El Tri player is coming to an end, but with the newly added pressure of Reyes on the roster, he’s considering stepping down from the Aztec squad, as he knows he can’t compete with the polyvalent defender, who also knows how to play as a right-back and a defensive midfielder.

Israel Reyes numbers with Club Puebla

Since Nicolás Larcamón arrived in Puebla, Reyes has become an essential player in La Franja, and so far, in Clausura 2022, he’s played the 11 games La Franja has had, starting in eight of them and even was able to score his first goal this weekend, in the 2-2 draw against Santos Laguna.
