Gerardo Martino's cycle at the helm of the Mexican national team has been effective in terms of numbers, as the Mexican squad managed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022, after having obtained the necessary points in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.

However, the style of play of the Mexican national soccer team as well as some of the players called up are still not convincing the press, fans, and, above all, some Liga MX coaches. And one of them went after Martino Tri's style of play.

"As a coach, it seems to me that the national team is not working. From what I saw at the beginning and what Tata did when he arrived, he had an extraordinary year, he started very well. Today it seems to me that nothing of what he puts on the field is working," were the harsh criticisms that the Liga MX coach with experience managing El Tri said about Tata's game plan.

"Piojo" Herrera went all out against Martino's El Tri

In an interview for Marca, Miguel Herrera, who coached the Mexican national team between 2013 and 2015, said that El Tri is winning but is still pitiful because Gerardo Martino's game plan is still not convincing and even if they defeat teams that are not so dangerous, they could be in trouble in Qatar 2022.

"During the process, we have seen nothing but results, say he won one to zero giving pity but he won, he was winning, it's good, the results were given, but here the truth is that the Mexican team at the beginning played well, looked good, solid and today we see nothing of that," were the harsh words of the former coach of the Mexican national team.
