Guillermo Ochoa is ready to retire from Mexico National Team after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as he knows he won’t make it to the 2026 World Cup and will leave his role as the starter goalkeeper for a younger goalie that can perform better than him.
Carlos Vela wants this goalkeeper in El Tri to guarantee his arrival
After Ochoa retires, El Tri will need to look for a new goalkeeper, as he’s been the starter for over a decade. Although everyone is expecting that Carlos Acevedo becomes his replacement, in Spain there’s a young goalkeeper that will fight for the starting role.
Alex Padilla is just 18 years old, but he’s impressed with his abilities, which is why Athletic Bilbao was interested in him and now owns his economic rights, although he was loaned for the current season, as he plays for CD Basconia, in Spanish third division.
Even though Alex Padilla has played for the Academy teams of Spain National Team, he has yet to debut with the senior squad on an official match, which is why Mexico National Team could still convince him to wear El Tri colors.
Is Nicolás Larcamón the coach Mexico National Team needs?
