Gerardo “Tata” Martino revealed the list of players that will be part of the Mexico National Team roster that will face the upcoming CONCACAF Qualifiers match window, and even if there’s some surprises, like the absence of Luis “Chaka” Rodríguez, he still left some of the players that are having a great streak with their teams.

When does Mexico play and who are the confirmed players for the match against the USMNT?

El Tri will face USMNT on March 24 in Estadio Azteca, in a game that will be definitive for the aspirations of both national teams towards Qatar 2022, but not even knowing that in advance made Gerardo Martino build his roster around the best available players.

Marcelo Flores was left out of the call once again, even if he has established as one of the most regular players in Europe, and although he has yet to debut in the Premier League, his contributions to Arsenal U-23 squad have been remarkable.

But “Tata” Martino confirmed the lack of faith he has in the young offensive midfielder, who was the perfect replacement for Andrés Guardado, given that “El Principito” won’t be able to play the upcoming FIFA match window given that he’s injured.

Who will replace Andrés Guardado?

After returning to Liga MX and having a couple of good games with CF Monterrey, Rodolfo Pizarro made his reappearance in Mexico National Team after missing the past two FIFA match windows, given the low level and few minutes he had at the end of his stint with Inter Miami FC.

With his return to El Tri, Martino made clear that he has clear favorites and he’s not worried on taking away opportunities from players that demonstrate every game their will and desire to be part of the Aztec squad just to fulfill his whim.

Will Marcelo Flores be in Qatar 2022?

With his decision of leaving the 18-year-old out of the call, it looks almost impossible that Gerardo Martino will take him in consideration for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, although things might change in the first leg of the 2022-23 season if Flores makes his debut with Arsenal senior team.

Rodolfo Pizzaro’s numbers in 2022

After Inter Miami let him know that he was no longer in plans to be part of the Herons, Pizarro joined Monterrey on a one-year loan prior the start of Clausura 2022, but so far, he’s played 8 games both in Liga MX and the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, where he’s scored just one goal.
