Every day that passes becomes more evident that Diego Lainez doesn’t have a place in Real Betis, as he’s been erased by Manuel Pellegrini not only from the starting XI, but also from having any opportunity of playing as a substitute.

Lainez wanted to leave on the past winter transfer window, and a few teams in La Liga were interested in him and even tried to negotiate with Los Béticos for his transfer, even if it was on a loan, but both Ángel Haro and Manuel Pellegrini convinced him to stay, promising more playing time.

Now, Lainez hasn’t played a single minute for Betis in over a month, and in 2022 he’s played just 76 minutes, confirming that he was betrayed by his coach, who insisted that he would have more minutes on the second part of the season.

According to the report made by ElDesmarque, a sports media specialized in both Sevilla and Real Betis, Lainez agent confirmed that he will be leaving Los Béticos at the end of the season looking for more playing time, given that he needs to find regularity prior to Qatar 2022 if he wants to be considered by Gerardo “Tata” Martino.

Where will Lainez play?

Lainez agent suggested that they will look to leave Real Betis over the summer, but the 21-year-old right-winger is looking to play in one of the best 5 European leagues, having a predilection for the Spanish top flight, although leaving La Liga is an option if the right offer arrives.

But given his lack of regularity and the fact that he hasn’t been able to prove his talent, it looks complicated that any team on the top side of the table will give him an opportunity, which is why the option of returning to America might open.

Will he arrive in Club América?

Given his salary and his current market value, the option of arriving in MLS is more viable than returning to Liga MX, as he could be a great addition to any MLS team and he even has been linked to Houston Dynamo, who recently acquired Héctor Herrera.

Although since arriving in Real Betis in 2019 for 15.5 million, his market value has plummeted to $5.5 million, a figure that Club América could be able to pay if they were to pursue his addition, but they will have to wait until they have a new coach to define what they’ll do for next season.
