Chelsea could pay for Edson Álvarez the same price than what this Real Madrid player is worth
Álvarez joined Ajax back in 2019 out of Club América.
Even though Chelsea is still alive in Champions League and FA Cup, they’re already planning next season for Premier League, as they are 13 points away from the current leader, Manchester City, and seems they don’t have a chance of getting close.
That’s why they already are eyeing different players for the 2022-23 season and Edson Álvarez is one of them, as the Mexican defensive midfielder has impressed with his performances and regularity with Eredivisie side Ajax FC.
Thomas Tuchel sees the 24-year-old as a replacement for Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and César Azpilicueta, who might be leaving the club at the end of the season, but even if they stay, his addition will mean a step up in the position.
Edson Álvarez numbers with Ajax
Edson Álvarez joined Ajax back in 2019 out from Club América on a permanent move worth $17 million. He’s under contract until 2025 and his current market value is set at $22.7 million, the same figure that Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic. In the current season, Álvarez has played a total of 22 games, both in Champions League and Eredivisie.
