On Saturday evening, Carlos Vela and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández played on the same pitch once again, although this time it wasn’t for Mexico National Team but instead in a game that has become on of the most passionate derbies of the MLS: El Tráfico.

Chicharito Hernandez, with goals, continues to knock on the door of the Mexican national team

Los Angeles FC visited LA Galaxy in a game that the Galaxy ended up winning thanks to the goals of “Chicharito” Hernández and Séga Coulibaly during the first half of the game. Cristian “Chicho” Arango scored for the Black & Gold, but it wasn’t enough.

Carlos Vela got two goals canceled for offside, but even if they didn’t help LAFC at the end, it shows that he’s playing at the highest level he can. Unluckily for the Black & Gold, they finished the game with nine offsides, something that Steve Cherundolo will have to work to avoid in future games.

LAFC had more possession of the ball and tried to tie the game by any means, something that they barely manage to do with a last-minute goal of Latif Blessing that was also canceled due to an offside after the VAR reviewed it.

Vela and “Chicharito” sent a message to El Tri

The two Mexican strikers didn’t hold back and sent a clear message to Mexico National Team and Gerardo “Tata” Martino, who hasn’t considered them even if El Tri is lacking a striker that can score, as neither Henry Martín, Rogelio Funes Mori nor Raúl Jiménez have been that player.

Both Carlos Vela and “Chicharito” Hernández are playing at an optimal level and not only are they scoring, but also have become essential players for their teams, as they proved on the pitch of Dignity Health Stadium.

They both should be immovables from El Tri roster, as they have the best active scoring streak, with “Chicharito” having 5 goals in six games and Vela 4 goals in the same amount of time, but instead, they have been completely erased from the Aztec squad.

Will they play for El Tri again?

It’s hard to know if they’ll ever be considered to wear El Tri colors again, as they have the sporting merit. Carlos Vela is aware that they both have been blacklisted by Yon de Luisa and FMF, which is why he decided to retire, but Javier Hernández hasn’t closed the door to an eventual return.
