One of Mexico National Team’s most urgent needs is a striker that can be the perfect complement for Raúl Jiménez, given that neither Rogelio Funes Mori nor Henry Martín have the desired level to fill his place if needed, as it happened on the game against Jamaica MNT.
Can Chivas have their first non-Mexican player in their history?
And although there are many other options, especially young promising players, Gerardo “Tata” Martino has set his mind to keep calling them no matter what, as he refuses to start youngsters in his team, even though playing with only experienced players has proven to be ineffective.
His decision has made a lot of young strikers decide to play for another National Team, and although Luca Martínez Dupuy has been part of Mexico National Team academy and still wants to play for El Tri, “Tata” Martino hasn’t even considered calling him.
Born in Mexico in 2001 when his father was playing for Atlético San Luis, Luca Martínez debuted last season in Argentinian top flight with CA Rosario Central. He’s been linked to both Milan teams in the past although more recent reports place him in the MLS.
