Acevedo breaks silence and leaks what he did after being banned from the World Cup

Carlos Acevedo was one of the most outstanding goalkeepers throughout the Apertura 2022 and mainly for almost the whole year. The Santos Laguna goalkeeper stood out at a high level with multiple superb performances and people were asking for him as the natural heir to Guillermo Ochoa's position in the Mexican national team.

However, Gerardo Martino did not think so. The Mexican goalkeeper was not included in the official preliminary list that was sent to FIFA prior to the 2022 World Cup. In that sense, the Mexican goalkeeper simply could not be included in the squad for the various matches prior to Qatar and, therefore, will not be in the World Cup.

Acevedo was among the 55 eligible players, but in the end, Martino opted for Guillermo Ochoa, Rodolfo Cota and Alfredo Talavera. In that sense, Acevedo will not fulfill his dream of playing in the next World Cup, but at least he has a couple more World Cups to try to recover.
