So far, San Luis can aspire to the Liguilla thanks to Chávez Soto's goal, as they are in 10th place in the competition, and if they remain there or move up a little more in round 17, they will have access to the reclassification matches.

Who is Ricardo Chávez?

Ricardo Chávez Soto is a Mexican professional soccer player who plays as a right-back for Liga MX 2022 club Atlético San Luis and who this afternoon scored the goal that gave his club the win over Cruz Azul, one of the strongest teams in the tournament and a candidate to win it.

Chávez Soto is 27 years old and was born on November 19, 1994, but despite his little experience in the maximum circuit of Mexican soccer, he gave immense joy to the followers of Atlético San Luis.

It was late in the first half when San Luis orchestrated a series of passes from the midfield and from there, Ricardo Chávez received a deep pass that left him one-on-one with Sebastián Jurado, the goalkeeper of La Máquina, whom he took out of his goal and beat, to shoot all alone and put the definitive 0-1 on the scoreboard.

The club also had to fire its previous coach, so with the arrival of André Jardine, the team had a discreet change, which today has them ready to face the playoffs.

In which other teams have Ricardo Chavez played?

And it was this coach who has placed his trust in Chávez Soto, a player who started as a professional in the ranks of Correcaminos but made his debut with Ricardo Ferretti with Tigres on March 13, 2014, in Copa MX against Puebla F.C.

Later, in 2016, he returned to the Correcaminos de la UAT team, where he was an accomplished player, but by 2017, he would be requested by Mario García Covalles for Cimarrones, and from there, in 2019, he arrived at Necaxa.

It was there that the previous coach of San Luis, Marcelo Méndez Russo saw him and decided to bring him to Atlético, and although Méndes Russo left the team due to poor results, the arrival of Chávez Soto was his great contribution to the club, since today the player has propelled his club to the final phase of the Liga MX 2022 championship.
