The fact is that the 25-year-old player has lived through all kinds of experiences in Mexican soccer, which makes it necessary to review his soccer career.

Who is Edgar Zaldívar?

Edgar Zaldívar Valverde is a Mexican footballer who plays as a midfielder for Atlas de Guadalajara in Liga MX 2022, a team that is currently the champion of Mexican soccer.

Zaldívar not only stands out for the great performance in the midfield he had against Pumas UNAM in the round 6 match of the tournament, but also because he was part of the team that helped Atlas to be crowned after more than 70 years without a title.

And this is a source of pride for the player because, beyond winning a title, he won it with the club that trained him as a player, because Zaldívar is a homegrown player, and the Zorros have always distinguished themselves for training Mexican players who are epoch-making, such as Rafa Márquez or Andrés Guardado

Where and when was Edgar Zaldívar born?

Edgar Zaldívar was born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, on October 17, 1996, and began his soccer career in 2014 in the Atlas academy where, due to his outstanding work in the midfield, he was gradually promoted, until he achieved the dream of every young footballer to debut with the first team.

Edgar made his debut as a starter with the Zorros on March 8, 2016, in the Clausura 2016 tournament of the Copa Corona MX, in a 3-2 victory over Club Tijuana.

And his debut in the first division took place on February 18, 2017, in the 2017 Clausura in a 0-1 victory for Atlas against Cruz Azul at the Estadio Azul stadium.

But undoubtedly his consecration came when he played in the final of the Apertura 2021, in which Atlas was crowned champion after more than 70 years. But that final was not without drama for the young player.

Edgar Zaldívar's mistake that almost ruined an epic moment

In a play in which Zaldívar was alone in front of the rival goal, and with a pass from Brayan Trejo that bounced out of control in front of Rodolfo Cota's goal, the young midfielder tried to finish with a weak header, which was easily caught by Cota.

This almost turned out to be the failure of his career, but to his good fortune, he managed to score one of the penalty kicks in the round of penalties that gave Atlas the crown after a long title drought.
