Liga MX has countless positive things that make it an attractive competition, however, among the negative issues that plague Mexican football is the lack of confidence in the sporting projects, with the coach being the one who pays the consequences most of the time.

Some coaches do not end up adapting their system of play and from the top of the club they are 'cut off' and their process is terminated, some of them after only weeks in the position.

Throughout soccer history, worldwide important teams have had coaches in the dugout who have won not only the affection of the public but also the support of the management, such as the case of Sir Alex Ferguson, who was in charge of Manchester United for more than 27 years.

In Mexico, there are few cases in which a coach lasts at least 10 tournaments, the most recent case being Ricardo Ferretti, who was Tigres' coach for almost 11 years.

Coaches fired in the Clausura 2022

A few days ago, Pablo Guede and Leo Ramos were fired as coaches of Necaxa and Querétaro respectively, and a few days ago the same thing happened with Marcelo Méndez at Atlético de San Luis.

André Jardine replaced Marcelo Méndez and Atlético de San Luis got their first win in the tournament against América. Meanwhile, Jaime Lozano, former coach of the Mexican U-23 national team, was hired by Necaxa and former Toluca player and coach, Hernán Cristante, arrived at Querétaro. Both coaches will make their debuts this weekend and will try to improve the situation of their teams.

More changes could come during Clausura 2022

So far, three coaches have been fired in the Clausura 2022 and unfortunately for others, the end of their tenure could be near. The one at most risk is Spaniard Beñat San José, who cannot find his way with Mazatlán.

Although they still support him through the media, another who could soon lose his job is Santiago Solari, as América is one of the bottom teams and the three matches he will face in the following days will be crucial for him and his team.

Meanwhile, Javier Aguirre has not convinced Monterrey's board of directors, as the Rayados have one of the most expensive squads in the continent and the failure in the Club World Cup would put his continuity in doubt.

Andres Lillini, the longest-serving coach in the position

His arrival as coach of Pumas was due to the premature departure of Spanish coach Michel Gonzalez. The Argentine Andres Lillini had to take over the position a few days before the start of the Guardians 2020, however, his vision and his work with Pumas has been extraordinary, as the Santa Fe native took Club Universidad to the Final in his first tournament and today is the longest-serving coach of the eighteen Liga MX coaches with one year and six months in the position.

Behind him is Diego Cocca, Atlas' coach, who was in charge of breaking the 70 years without a title for the ‘rojinegros’. Another team that in recent times has given continuity to sports projects is Puebla, since, after the departure of Juan Reynoso, who was on the bench for 16 months, there is now Nicolás Larcamón, an Uruguayan who surprised everyone with his great work with the Angelópolis team.
