Various sources confirmed the decision taken by the Cruz Azul Cooperativa, led by the president of the Board of Directors, Víctor Manuel Velázquez, due to administrative and ideological differences with the club's former executive president, Álvaro Dávila.

According to ESPN, Jaime Ordiales, who had served as an external sports consultant for Cooperativa La Cruz Azul, will return to take charge of the first team as either sports president or executive president.

The Cementero club issued a communiqué and yesterday showed a farewell video of Dávila and Velázquez to thank the manager for his work.

Dávila helped Cruz Azul to be champion in Clausura 2021

The departure of executive president Álvaro Dávila also includes the departure of other directors of the club, the collaborators who arrived under his management: executive director or sports director Héctor Lara, director of operations Gabriel Saucedo, director of communications Edwin Victoria, and director of medical services Gerardo Meraz.

Álvaro Dávila took over as executive president of Cruz Azul from January 1, 2021, to February 10, 2022, a period in which he managed to clean up the club's finances, get rid of players with high salaries or sell those players who no longer wanted to remain with the team, as well as contribute to the league title obtained on May 30 of last year, the Ninth Star that had been denied to the club for 23 and a half years.

Why did Álvaro Dávila leave?

The suggestion for Álvaro Dávila's departure from Cruz Azul was external. The former manager, and his team, made all the arrangements to reinforce La Máquina Celeste for the Clausura 2022, but he had to leave the club due to external interests to the team and the company to which he belongs.

The departure of Álvaro Dávila and his team had been planned since the beginning of the week. Once the records were closed and the reinforcements for the club had been secured, the next step in the administration of La Máquina Celeste had to be taken, according to sources close to the team.

At the highest levels, it was agreed that the justification for his departure would be due to "personal problems", although the reality is that everyone worked together to close the club's reinforcements for this season, leaving out the supposed version that he had "differences with the current board".
