Club América is having one of their worst seasons since at least 1996, when the short tournaments were established in Liga MX instead of a long season, as they have won just one game after 10 rounds of Clausura 2022.

If that wasn’t enough, they’re currently standing second to last with only seven points, as they’ve lost five games and tied the remainder four, which is why Emilio Azcárraga and Santiago Baños decided to sack Santiago Solari after eight rounds.

Things haven’t got any better in the two games they’ve played after Solari’s departure, as the team hasn’t showed any improvement on the pitch, although they say that the group has left behind the tension built when the Argentine coach was still on the dugout.

Fernando “Tano” Ortíz has been in the dugout for the past couple of games as an interim coach, and he’ll remain there until Baños and Azcárraga decide to hire a new coach, something that might happen at the end of the season, as one of they’re favorite candidates is Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who currently coaches FC Juárez.

Will Ferretti arrive in Club América?

According to reports from sports journalist David Medrano, Ricardo Ferretti already presented his resignation letter to FC Juárez ownership, as he knows there’s nothing more he can do to help Los Bravos, who are struggling to leave the bottom of the table, but so far, he hasn’t received the answer he wanted from Los Bravos

Instead, they’ve been actively trying to extend his contract with FC Juárez, as his current one expires at the end of the season, something that “Tuca” has refused to do given that he wants to leave the team and join a new one, where he can actually compete for Liga MX like he was used to with Tigres, which is why he is seriously considering the offer of América to arrive in El Nido.

Not all the players are happy with his arrival

One of the players that is opposing to Ferretti’s arrival in Club América is Guillermo Ochoa, who doesn’t like his coaching style and even criticized it when Ferretti was interim coach of El Tri a few years back, which is why he is ready to leave Las Águilas if “Tuca” becomes their new coach.

If that happens, his future might be in the MLS, as he’s gathered attention from a few teams that know that he might be on the move soon, as his contract with América expires at the end of the year and there hasn’t been any negotiations to extend it.
