Club América couldn’t beat CF Pachuca on the first leg of the semifinals of Clausura 2022 and now will have to visit Estadio Hidalgo on Sunday night with the need of winning the game by one or more goal if they want to make it into the final.

Who was responsible for the draw in Club América vs Pachuca according to Fernando Ortíz?

Although what Fernando “Tano” Ortíz has done in the season since he took over the team after eight rounds is something that should earn him at least a contract extension with the first team and a salary increase, he still wants to keep writing one of the most amazing comebacks in Liga MX.

América are just three games away of becoming Liga MX champions for the first time since 2018 thanks to “Tano” Ortíz, who took the team at the bottom of the table and in only nine games he helped them reach the top four of Clausura 2022.

But something that could prevent them from making it into the final is the lack of a striker that can score consistently, as neither Henry Martín nor Federico Viñas have been able to contribute to Club América as they only managed to score four goals between the two of them in the regular season.

Ortíz wants Julio Furch as América’s next striker

That’s why Fernando Ortíz, who reports from TUDN suggest that he will remain as Club América coach for at least another season, although he’s close on agreeing a 2-year contract extension, has set his eyes on Atlas FC’s striker Julio Furch.

The 32-year-old striker had one of his worst seasons in Liga MX since he arrived back in 2015 at Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, as he only scored five goals in the regular season, but he still managed to find the net more times than Viñas and Martín together.

According to Transfermarkt, Furch’s market value currently is set at $2.6 million, although the Rojinegros won’t let him go for that figure, as he’s one of the most essential players for Diego Cocca, which is why Las Águilas are planning on offering three players for his economic rights.

Who are the players that América wants to swap for Furch?

The first player that will leave América is Federico Viñas, as he could regain his level in Atlas, where the pressure is less than in Club América. Salvador Reyes is another player that could be involved in the trade, as Ortíz has erased him from the lineup. Finally, Mauro Lainez is the third player that Ortíz will be willing to send to Atlas.
