After closing the regular season with four straight victories and improving their streak with the 4-1 victory over Pumas in Repechaje, Chivas were eliminated in the quarterfinals of Clausura 2022 by one of their biggest rivals, Atlas FC.

Ricardo Peláez wants to reverse Ricardo Cadena's appointment at Chivas and wants this coach

El Rebaño Sagrado never found a way of breaking one of the most solid teams of Clausura 2022, as even if Atlas doesn’t have a flamboyant gaming style, they know how to defend well and then counterattack as soon as they have the opportunity, a plan that Chivas couldn’t find a way to stop.

On top of that, the lack of a striker that could score consistently hurt their aspirations of winning a new Liga MX title, as neither Ángel Zaldívar nor José Juan Macías were the dependable forward that El Rebaño needed.

Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez know that there’s multiple positions that need to be strengthen for next season if they want to avoid having another season as irregular as Clausura 2022 was for them, which is why they are already looking for new additions, although they don’t even have a coach.

Club América could give them their first reinforcement

Although the priority for Chivas is a new striker to replace Zaldívar, they also need to start a generational change especially on the defense, as the players that currently have are either from the academy teams or over thirty.

Club América has the answer for one of the positions, as reports from TUDN informed that Las Águilas are ready to extend the contract of Luis Fuentes, as he’s one of the favorite players of Fernando “Tano” Ortíz and has become the starting left-back.

Given that Ortíz is set to stay at América for at least another season, Salvador Reyes is looking to leave Las Águilas in search for more playing time, as the 24-year-old left-back arrived at Club América with the intentions of being a regular, something that he achieved until Santiago Solari was sacked.

Salvador Reyes’s market value

The Mexican left-back arrived at Club América out from Club Puebla just a year ago, where he impressed Liga MX with his outstanding performances, making him a good addition for Chivas if they decide to pursue his signing, although for that to happen, they will have to pay $4 million for his economic rights.
